Based on a true story.¹
Me: "So, for the upcoming Law Soc council elections, I told you² that I put in a nomination form right? Well, nominations have closed. And there are 4 candidates for a single middle-category slot. So there will be voting."
Spouse: "So you want me to vote? Wait, I can't even vote for you.³ Even assuming I wanted to.⁴"
Me: "Well, ok. But I should probably do something instead of just sitting back and waiting for election day."
Spouse: "Which means what? Are you going to campaign? Surely you're not going to be giving speeches or organising a rally right?"
Me: "Of course not! Plus I don't have the time to apply for a permit at Hong Lim Park. And would anybody even come?"
Spouse: "Hard to say. So what are you going to do?"
Me: "Eh, I don't know. I'll get to broadcast an election message eventually.⁵ I could post on LinkedIn first, I guess? I'll think about it."
To be continued.

² I did actually tell my spouse beforehand. I'm not stupid, or so I like to think.

⁴ Harsh.
