On the (potential) perils of supervising a trainee lawyer.

In Singapore, trainee lawyers must complete a 6-month training period under a "supervising solicitor" before being admitted to the Bar. Mr A was Mr B's supervising solicitor.

When Mr B applied for admission, Mr A filed a formal objection. In particular, Mr A claimed that Mr B "was playing computer games and watching movies on his computer during office hours".

Mr A subsequently withdrew his objection. Then came the bombshell. It appeared that Mr A did not have the prerequisite qualifications to take on trainee lawyers, as he only had a practising certificate for less than 3 out of the last 7 years, but was required to have one for 5 out of the last 7 years.

Mr A is now being investigated by the police for giving false evidence.

I leave you to ponder the moral of the story, if any!
